Former Rutgers Women’s Basketball commit Chante Murray has found a new home.
Murray, who committed to Rutgers in October, has decommitted and signed with West Virginia. She announced that she has requested to get out of her National Letter of Intent and will now join the Mountaineers.
Murray was the lone recruit in the 2026 class for the Scarlet Knights.
The 6-foot-1 guard is in the midst of her senior year at Crestwood Prep in Toronto. She attended St. Jude’s Academy in Mississiauga for one year before transferring to Crestwood.
In 2024, Murray played for Team Canada during the FIBA U18 Women’s Americup. She appeared in four games ,averaging 1.8 points and 2.3 rebounds per game for a team that won the silver medal led by her high school coach Marlo Davis.
Murray is ranked fourth in the 2026 class in Canada by North Pole Hoops. She is known for her length and athleticism on both ends. She can guard effectively while showing an ability to score in multiple ways. Murray projected as a strong two-way guard for the Scarlet Knights, but now the team will have to go in a different direction.
