Georgia Bulldogs guard Marcus “Smurf” Millender does not plan to enter the NCAA transfer portal and will return to Georgia for the 2026-2027 college basketball season. Millender’s return is a boost for Georgia, who is looking to make a third straight NCAA Tournament appearance next year.
“Georgia is where I want to be,” Millender said upon announcing his return. Millender transferred to Georgia from UTSA after spending the first year of his basketball career with South Alabama. The junior started eight games for Georgia in 2025-2026 and appeared in 33 games.
He was a key player in Georgia’s rotation and averaged 12.0 points, 4.1 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.8 turnovers. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound guard has one year of eligibility left. Millender posted good shooting percentages in his first year at Georgia. He shot 38.6% from three-point range, 45.2% from the field and 84.0% from the free-throw line.
Millender provides Georgia coach Mike White with a foundational piece for next season. The Bulldogs are expected to busy in the transfer portal this offseason.
The Bulldogs are expected to lose leading scorer Jeremiah Wilkinson, top interior defender Somto Cyril and forward Dylan James to the transfer portal when it opens on April 7. Georgia has several other key players facing decisions for next season including guard Blue Cain and forward Kanon Catchings.
