While the Green Jacket from Augusta is one of golf’s most prestigious awards, the Masters gnome might be up there in terms of exclusivity.
Each year, a large number of golf fans, not the golfers, get to the course before the sun rises in Georgia with the hope of getting a spot in line to purchase that year’s gnome. The gnome’s design changes in design each year, ranging from a blazer to a food-covered golf shirt, and this year’s gnome has a fully operating umbrella.
The gnome first debuted for the 2016 Masters, and besides 2017, has reappeared in Augusta’s gift shop every year.
Here’s some information about this year’s gnome and the process that is involved to potentially land it.

What is a Masters gnome?
In 2016, Augusta National’s golf shop debuted its version of a garden gnome. They took a one-year hiatus from introducing a gnome for the 2017 Masters, but the garden icon made its return in 2018 and has since become one of the most sought-after items at the Masters besides the Green Jacket.
The Masters has revealed the 2026 edition of their famous garden gnome and it comes with a working Masters umbrella. These are so popular that they have limited the purchase to one per customer.

The only way to purchase a Masters gnome directly from Augusta National is through attendance at the Masters. Attendees form long lines with the hopes of acquiring the year’s exclusive gnome.
Some patrons even waited in the parking lots extremely early in the morning with the hopes of obtaining a gnome. This year, the Masters issued a bulletin stating that parking lots would open no earlier than 6 a.m.
