The Boston Celtics’ season is drawing to a close. Joe Mazzulla’s team has two games remaining, one against the New Orleans Pelicans and the other against the Orlando Magic on Sun, April 12. Having lost to the New York Knicks on Thursday, April 9, the Celtics will need one more win to mathematically clinch the second seed heading into the postseason.
With the regular season all but over, and roughly a week between Boston’s final game and the start of their playoff run, Mazzulla will have some much-needed time to work with his team in practice sessions. The only downside is that the Celtics must wait to find out who they will face, due to the nature of the play-in tournament.
Nevertheless, with a gap in Celtics basketball on the horizon Adam Taylor and Mike Weber of “The Celtics Chronicle” podcast decided to get a jump on their Celtics-focused end-of-season awards. During the episode, they named the teams’ MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, Most Improved Player of the Year, and discussed why the team’s Sixth Man of the Year award belongs to someone who is no longer on the team.
