The Los Angeles Dodgers are joining in on the celebration of UCLA women’s basketball winning the program’s first NCAA title in history. The Dodgers will honor the Bruins before their game against the New York Mets at Dodger Stadium on Wednesday, according to Ben Bolch of the California Post.
By Wednesday, six Bruins will know where they will begin their WNBA careers. The 2026 WNBA Draft is set to take place in New York on Monday, and all six of UCLA’s graduating players are projected to be drafted in the first and second round.
The Dodgers are the third Los Angeles sports franchise to honor UCLA at a home game. The Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers celebrated the Bruins’ national championship during games against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Dave Roberts Already Congratulated UCLA
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts was one of the first celebrities to congratulate UCLA for winning the national championship. He sent a message to the Bruins on social media on Monday, one day after the title game.
“Hey coach Close and the UCLA women’s basketball team, congratulations on your first national championship in history. From one champion to another, you guys went wire to wire as being the best basketball team in college basketball all year long. You did it with class, integrity, toughness. You guys made the entire Bruin nation so proud,” Roberts said.
Roberts is part of the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame after a decorated career with the baseball team from 1991-94. He was team captain and a two-time All-Pac-10 and NCAA Regional All-Tournament selection.
