With the 2026 NFL Draft just a week away when the first round commences on Pittsburgh’s North Shore, the NFL unveiled its guest legends and current players who will be representing all 32 NFL teams that are scheduled to make picks in the second and third rounds on Friday, April 24.
A total of three Beaver County natives will take the draft theater stage to make selections, including two who went to Hopewell High School, while three former Pittsburgh Steelers will be making selections.
Here is a look at the former and current players who will be making selections at this year’s draft.
Beaver County Natives
Jimbo Covert, Freedom Area
Covert, a Conway native, will be announcing one of the Chicago Bears’ three selections on day two of the draft. The left tackle spent all eight seasons of his career with the Bears, appearing in 111 games. He was selected to the Pro Bowl and an AP all-pro in 1985-86. Covert was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2020.
Tony Dorsett, Hopewell
Dorsett will announce the Dallas Cowboys’ third-round pick (92nd overall) of the NFL Draft. The Hopewell graduate spent 12 seasons in the league, 11 with the Cowboys, taking home the Offensive Rookie of the Year award in 1988, rushing for 1,007 yards and 12 touchdowns. The running back finished his career with 12,739 yards on the ground and 77 touchdowns. He also had five consecutive 1,000-yard rushing seasons to begin his career. Dorsett was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1994.
Paul Posluszny, Hopewell
The Hopewell graduate will be announcing one of the Jacksonville Jaguars four selections. Posluszny spent 11 years in the league, seven with the Jaguars, racking up 882 solo tackles, 16 sacks, 15 interceptions and eight forced fumbles in his career. The linebacker was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2013 after leading the league in solo tackles with 122.
Pittsburgh Steelers Guest Pickers
Jerome Bettis
Bettis was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2015 after racking up 13,662 rushing yards and 91 touchdowns. The longtime Steeler spent 10 of his 13 seasons in the black and gold and helped lead the team to its fifth Super Bowl against the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XL.
Joey Porter Jr.
The son of Pittsburgh Steeler great Joey Porter Sr. will be announcing one of Pittsburgh’s three picks. The cornerback is a Pittsburgh native, graduating from North Allegheny High School, playing college ball at Penn State before being selected in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Joey Porter Sr.
Porter Sr. was selected in the third round of the 1999 NFL Draft. The linebacker would rack up 516 solo tackles, 98 sacks and 26 forced fumbles in his career, spending eight seasons in Pittsburgh and was also part of the Super Bowl XL squad.
John Stallworth
Stallworth spent his full 14-year career with the Steelers after being selected in the fourth round of the 1974 NFL Draft. The wide receiver racked up 537 receptions for 8,723 yards and 63 touchdowns in his career. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2002.
