Since getting called up to the Pittsburgh Pirates, shortstop Konnor Griffin has not found his footing. The rookie hit a double and collected an RBI in his Major League debut on April 3 against the Baltimore Orioles. Overall, Griffin is hitting .214 with a .602 OPS and 14 strikeouts in 13 games.

“I’m trying to make a play for Braxton [Ascraft]. I fielded it, thought I had a chance to get a second,” Griffin said to 93.7 The Fan. Pirates starter in the 8-7 loss to the Washington Nationals (final in 10 innings), Braxton Ashcraft, said Griffin apologized to him after the loss, with Ashcraft saying, “Never apologize” and that “nobody questions the effort” Griffin puts in. Ashcraft said that everyone on the team “has anything but 100 percent confidence in Konnor Griffin.”

Splitting two out of four with the Nationals, Griffin, and the Pirates play the Tampa Bay Rays in a three-game series starting on Friday.
