The OSAA spring sports season is coming to a close for Salem-Keizer area boys athletes in baseball, track and field, golf, volleyball and tennis.

Vinny Arnold, North Marion track and field
Arnold, a senior, threw 180 feet, 11 inches in the javelin at the Stayton Invitational May 9 for a third-place finish and Class 4A’s second-best mark of the season.
Colton Connally, Stayton baseball
Connally, a senior, posted three hits, one run and one RBI in addition to two innings pitched with two strikeouts May 14 in the Eagles’ 7-3 win over league rival Cascade.
Grant Hemelstrand, Cascade golf
Hemelstrand, a junior, won the Oregon West Conference district tournament May 12 with a 36-hole total of 158 to qualify for the OSAA 4A state championships. Hemelstrand and the Cougars took home the first-place team trophy.
Ryan Laro, West Salem baseball
Laro, a senior, smacked three hits for two RBIs and scored five runs May 13 in the Titans’ 13-7 win over South Salem.
David Rice, Central track and field
Rice, a senior, ran a personal-best 10.91-second 100-meter dash at the Stayton Invitational May 9 for a second-place finish and Class 5A’s seventh-best mark this spring.
Harper Stoops, Regis track and field
Stoops, a junior, ran a 1:59.37 800 at the Stayton Invitational May 9 for a sixth-place finish and Class 2A’s fourth-best time of the season.
Henry Wort, Blanchet Catholic baseball
Wort, a junior, pitched a full five innings and struck out 12 batters, walking none and allowing just one hit May 13 in the Cavaliers’ 26-0 win over Willamina. Wort also recorded three hits, three runs and five RBIs at the plate.
