The FSU baseball team will now be playing earlier than expected on Friday afternoon. Florida State was set to play the Pittsburgh Panthers in the quarterfinals of the ACC Baseball Tournament at 7 p.m. ET in Truist Field in Charlotte, North Carolina.
That is no longer the plan, as potential inclement weather has caused the game to be moved up to 3 p.m. ET. The game will still air on the ACC Network. It will be FSU’s first game in the tournament, with Pitt already winning two games to keep their season alive.
The two teams played back in May, with the Seminoles sweeping the series, which featured a doubleheader due to inclement weather in Tallahassee. FSU leads the all-time series 32-8, and this will be their first meeting in the ACC Tournament. FSU outscored Pitt 24-10 in the series, cruising to a 10-1 victory to open it before playing two competitive games to close it out.
The Seminoles are looking to boost their seeding in the coming NCAA Baseball Tournament, with them trying to make a late push to be a top-eight seed. The Panthers are fighting to make the tournament, with a win on Friday giving them a statement win they desperately need.
