Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs was arrested early Tuesday morning and charged with five counts associated with a domestic abuse complaint made on May 23, reports stated.
Jacobs now faces charges of battery/domestic abuse, criminal damage to property/domestic abuse, disorderly conduct/domestic abuse, strangulation and suffocation, and intimidating the victim. No details have been given regarding the victim.
According to reports, the arrest follows a three-day investigation based on the domestic abuse complaint.
There were immediate reactions on social media to the arrest and to what could happen next. People have started speculations and debates about the name of the alleged victim, referring to some rumors that the player has been seen with social media influencer Ash Kaash during their recent trip to Cancun, where he posted a video of Jacobs. It’s not clear whether she is a potential victim in this case.
Social media users have reacted quickly and differently to this situation, with some pointing out how serious the charges are, noting that the running back has been charged, adding that he is obviously still innocent until proven guilty, and describing it as a bad look for him.
Other users took a more conservative approach, stating that no matter what has happened, the charges are just allegations for the time being.
Jacobs has yet to comment on the incident, and the Packers have not released an official statement.
