The Blues originally signed Paez as a 16-year-old from Ecuadorian side Independiente del Valle in 2023 for around €20m.
The teenager has yet to kick a ball for Chelsea, and spent the first half of the season on loan at sister club Strasbourg.
Chelsea could cut Kendry Paez River Plate loan short
Paez was accused of a lack of professionalism during his time at Strasbourg, where he scored just once in 21 appearances.
The Blues recalled the Ecuadorian in January, and Paez was then sent on an 18th month loan to Argentine side River Plate.
The 19-year-old hasn’t fared much better on his return to South America, and has only scored once in 14 appearances, with his loan running until the end of 2026, but Jacobs has now provided an update.
He took to X.com and said:
“Meetings will take place in the coming weeks to discuss whether to cut short Kendry Paez’s River Plate loan.
“No decision taken yet, but understand it will be discussed this summer even though the loan runs until the end of the year.”
