Former Captain Shreve tight end Jacob Carruth has accepted his third head coaching job, and it has allowed him to return to North Louisiana.
The 2014 Gator graduate has named the head football coach at St. Mary’s School in Natchitoches by the school’s administration. He comes to Natchitoches after coaching at Catholic Pointe-Coupee since 2023 and at North Central (2021-23).
“We loved the community in New Roads and had a lot of success over the past three years at Catholic-Pointe Coupee,” Carruth said. “However, with our second child on the way we started thinking about the possibility of moving closer to family. The opportunity to take over at St. Mary’s presented itself at the perfect time. We are excited for this next chapter of our lives.”
Carruth inherits a program that’s been a perennial powerhouse in District 3-1A in recent years, but that went 5-5 each of the past two seasons.
“I have heard nothing but great things about St. Mary’s and they have a history of consistent success in football,” Carruth said. “After meeting the administration, I knew immediately they are hungry to get back to that level. The job seems to check all the boxes a coach looks for: talented players, supportive community, and an administration that supports coaches and gives them the tools necessary to succeed. I can’t wait to get to work on making Tiger football the pride of Natchitoches. St. Mary’s will be the place to be for football players in the area.”
Carruth attended Louisiana Tech and graduated from LSUS. He began his coaching career at Homer High (2017-2019), then Glenbrook (2019-2021) before heading to North Central.
