The New York Jets have finalized their initial 53-man roster and turned their attention toward Week 1, but roster building never truly stops in the NFL.
While players and coaches prepare for the upcoming season, scouting departments across the league continue laying the groundwork for future drafts. One of the biggest scouting opportunities of the college football season arrives Saturday night when the LSU Tigers host the Clemson Tigers in a nationally televised showdown.
In many ways, both programs mirror one another. They’re home to legendary coaches, Dabo Swinney and Lane Kiffin. They have long been NFL pipeline schools, routinely producing first-round picks and future starters. The game also features two of college football’s most recognizable brands, with Clemson and LSU sharing the “Tigers” nickname and stadiums commonly referred to as “Death Valley.”
According to ESPN NFL Draft and college football analyst Jordan Reid, the Jets are among 17 NFL teams expected to have representatives in attendance. The matchup has drawn significant league-wide interest because of the amount of NFL talent expected to take the field.

For the Jets, the visit represents another step in the evaluation process. General manager Darren Mougey and his personnel staff will spend the next several months identifying prospects who could help strengthen a roster that has undergone significant changes since the end of last season.
The regular season may be just around the corner, but NFL scouting departments are always looking ahead. Saturday night’s Clemson-LSU matchup offers an early opportunity to evaluate some of the top prospects expected to hear their names called during the 2027 NFL Draft.
