43,687 fans were in attendance to watch Nebraska and Missouri take the court at Wrigley Field. It started over an hour later than originally planned after a tight match up between Penn State and Kentucky. That game ended in four sets with the Wildcats taking the game: 25-23, 25-21, 23-25, 25-15.
There was further delay after that, as the court was getting slippery and everyone started falling when the match started. During the delay even the players were on the floor mopping up the floor, trying to make it so they were able to play safely.
After getting their bearings in the first few points, Nebraska pulled ahead with some kills by Andi Jackson and good serves from Virginia Adriano.
The game was interrupted several times for toweling off and the coaches meeting to make sure they were doing all they could to make sure the players were safe. Nebraska was up 11-7 in set 1 when everyone headed back to the dugout to let the blowers try to dry it off more.
However after a long delay, the game was suspended. It is TBD when Nebraska and Missouri will pick up this match again.
There were dance offs and players singing karoke, unfortunately there was not a full volleyball game played.
The Huskers are in action again on Thursday in Lincoln. They will take on New Mexico at 6:30pm.
