WILLIAMSTON — Here is quick reaction from St. Johns football picking up its third straight victory and remaining unbeaten in the CAAC Red with its 28-14 victory over Williamston on Friday, Sept. 18.

LUCAS McCASTLE, ST. JOHNS: The junior entered Friday with three touchdowns through the first three weeks of the season but doubled that total with a strong showing. He had 16 carries for 124 yards and three touchdowns. He ran for scores in the first, second and fourth quarters for the Redwings.
Key moment
Leading 21-14, St. Johns recorded its second fourth-down stop of the night in the final minute of the third quarter near midfield. The Redwings capitalized on the field position when McCastle capped that dive with a 3-yard TD run with 6:54 remaining that extend their lead to 28-14.
What it means
St. Johns put itself in a good position in the CAAC Red entering the middle week of the league schedule with the big road win. The Redwings head into Week 5 tied atop the CAAC Red standings with Mason, who they will host in what figures to be one of Greater Lansing’s top games next week. St. Johns also avenged last year’s 43-0 setback to Williamston on its home field. The Hornets hopes of repeating in the CAAC Red took an early hit with the home loss. Williamston still is in control of its fate in the race with big games remaining against Mason and Haslett over the final three weeks of league place.
