Sophie Cunningham gave Indiana Fever fans another reason to laugh after an impressive 96-77 win over the Minnesota Lynx. The eighth-year guard produced one of her better performances of the season Tuesday.
Cunningham scored 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting, including three 3-pointers, while playing 29 minutes in Indiana’s 19-point victory. She also finished with two rebounds, two assists and a plus-17 rating.
After the game, the team shared a moment involving Cunningham on social media that has got everyone talking, including the Fever guard herself.

Sophie Cunningham makes Patrick Mahomes comparison
The Fever posted a video of Cunningham launching a basketball deep into the second deck at Gainbridge Fieldhouse after the victory.
On Wednesday, Cunningham responded to the post on X:
“Call me Patrick Mahomes from here on out,” the Fever star joked.
The 31-year-old, who grew up in Missouri, has been an outspoken Kansas City Chiefs fan and has publicly supported Mahomes and the team over the years.
The Columbia native starred at Rock Bridge High School before staying home to play for the Missouri Tigers, where she finished her college career as the program’s all-time leading scorer with 2,187 points. Her family also has strong ties to Mizzou, with her father Jim Cunningham playing football and her mother Paula competing in track and field for the school.

Cunningham reached 2,000 career WNBA points during Tuesday’s game. The Fever recognized the milestone after the game, while head coach Stephanie White praised Cunningham for her response after playing only seven minutes in Sunday’s loss to the Washington Mystics.
Indiana’s win improved their record to 28-15 and kept their home-court hopes alive. Cunningham and the Fever will travel to Minnesota for their final game of the regular season. Tip off is set for 9 p.m. ET on Thursday.
