The Green Bay Packers were already dealing with Aaron Banks (knee/toe) and Jacob Monk (quadricep) injuries this week, but rookie offensive lineman Jager Burton (groin) was added to the Packers’ injury list on Thursday. In total, Green Bay has 15 offensive linemen between their 53-man roster and practice squad, so they’re not short on bodies, but this most recent injury to Burton can help explain why Travis Glover was getting some looks at right guard on Thursday, as the team could potentially be down three interior offensive linemen who previously made starts for the team in 2026.
Banks and Monk, along with defensive linemen Warren Brinson (calf/groin) and Anthony Campbell (ankle), did not participate on Thursday. Burton was a limited participant, as were defensive lineman Karl Brooks (illness), linebacker Edgerrin Cooper (shoulder/concussion) and edge defender Lukas Van Ness (shoulder). Brooks’ status is trending in a positive direction, as he was a non-participant on Wednesday, while Burton (full participant on Wednesday) and Brinson (limited participant on Wednesday) are trending negatively.
If Banks, Brinson, Campbell and Monk all miss Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, four of the Packers’ mandatory five scratches for Week 4 will be made easy. The roster is both “oversigned” on the offensive line and defensive line, so the team won’t need to call up a practice squad player for numbers. The last scratch will likely be another offensive lineman, as it’s uncommon for the team to carry more than eight players on a 48-man gameday roster — and the Packers have 11 offensive linemen currently on their 53-man active roster.
Players who remain non-participants due to injury for the Buccaneers on Thursday are rookie first-round pick Rueben Bain Jr. (groin/shoulder), tight end Ko Kieft (elbow) and starting quarterback Baker Mayfield (thumb).
