The Baltimore Ravens are facing off against the 3-2 Cleveland Browns in Week 6 of the NFL season, and unfortunately, they’re going to be without Lamar Jackson.
He’s out for a second straight week due to injury, leaving Tyler Huntley to take over the QB room for another week. But even in this matchup with a backup QB against a tricky AFC North defense, Zay Flowers might be in store for a huge day.
ESPN Research shared a very important statistic for this week’s matchup, revealing how Flowers’ dominance on crossing routes matches up nicely with the Browns’ struggles defending such routes, potentially setting up for a huge Flowers week.
Zay Flowers poised for massive Week 6 thanks to crossing route stat
“Ravens WR Zay Flowers has 90 receiving yards on crossing routes this season, third most in the NFL,” ESPN Research shared. “Cleveland has given up the fourth-most yards on crossing routes through five games (224).”
Flowers is one of the best wide receivers in the NFL when it comes to generating yards on crossing routes this season.
This week against the Browns, he faces a defense that allows more yards on crossing routes than most of the NFL, with only three teams allowing more yards on those routes this season than they have.

What this means is quite clear: the Ravens WR has a fantastic matchup in Week 6 going up against a defense that’s beatable through one of his best routes.
Even without Jackson at quarterback, Huntley should be able to hit Flowers on some of these crossing routes, setting up what could be a huge week for the Ravens’ WR against their AFC North rivals.
While it might seem odd that one player running one specific route could matter so much for one game, with this clear advantageous matchup for the Ravens, things are setting up nicely for Flowers to torch this Cleveland secondary.
