Memorial High School capped a dominant season by winning the UIL Class 6A team tennis state championship, defeating Southlake Carroll 10-7 in Thursday’s final at the Blossom Tennis Center in San Antonio.
The state title is the third for the program (2017, 2019), which was making its first appearance in the final four since 2023.
Memorial’s path to the title included several impressive performances throughout the postseason. The Mustangs (18-1) opened with a 19-0 victory over Pasadena Dobie, followed by an 11-0 win against Barbers Hill and a 10-0 sweep of Pearland Dawson. Memorial then defeated five-time state champion Round Rock Westwood 10-9 in the semifinals Wednesday before edging out Southlake Carroll in the championship match. The Mustangs won 18 consecutive matches after falling to the same Westwood squad in the first contest of the season.
Memorial, coached by Brian Mandell and assistant J.P. Bonilla, swept the girls doubles matches and earned six singles victories to defeat Southlake Carroll, which ousted previously undefeated 2025 state champion The Woodlands with a 10-8 victory in the semifinals.
