Romeo Doubs has decided what number he will wear with the New England Patriots next season.
According to Sports Illustrated’s Mike Kadlick, Doubs will wear No. 87 as a member of the Patriots.
Doubs wore No. 87 with his former team, the Green Bay Packers. He will carry over the number to New England next season.
Prior to the start of the 2023 NFL season, the NFL broadened the range of jersey numbers that wide receivers were allowed to wear from 10-19, as well as 80-89, to a wider range of 0-49 and 80-89.
The No. 87 jersey carries great history in New England with legendary tight end Rob Gronkowski once donning the number. After the reveal, the X handle for Gronkowski and Julian Edelman’s podcast, “Dudes on Dudes,” reacted to Doubs wearing the number.

Doubs signed a four-year deal with New England in free agency. He hauled in 55 receptions for 724 yards and six touchdowns in 2025. He’s gone for over 100 yards in two of the four playoff games that he’s played in his career, including 124 yards in Green Bay’s 31-27 wild-card round loss to the Chicago Bears last postseason.
The Nevada product will play in his fifth season in the NFL in 2026.
