Roger Denny said that men’s basketball coach Porter Moser will reportedly return to coach the team next season.
“It’s on Coach Moser to make sure that our team’s performance continues to meet and exceed our resources for the program,” Denny said on X on Saturday.

Moser has coached the Sooners for the last five seasons and has a 93–74 record with the team. The Sooners are currently a bubble team after winning eight of their last 11 games and advancing to the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament before Friday’s loss to the Arkansas Razorbacks. Denny reportedly decided to bring back Moser before the Sooners’ run in the SEC tournament.
The Sooners had a slow start in conference play, losing nine straight conference games at one point during the season.
Moser made the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament last season before falling in the Round of 64 to the UConn Huskies. That was Moser’s only NCAA tournament appearance with the Sooners. He also made it to the second round of the National Invitation Tournament with Oklahoma in 2021.
Last season, Oklahoma was led by freshman guard Jeremiah Fears. Fears entered the season as a consensus four-star recruit. His performance at Oklahoma led the New Orleans Pelicans to select him with the No. 7 overall pick.
Before becoming the head coach of the Sooners, Moser coached at Loyola University Chicago, Illinois State University and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Moser advanced to the Final Four and the Sweet 16 in different seasons during his time at Loyola Chicago.
