As Longhorns football looks to add to its 2027 class, it has turned its attention to the offensive line. On Friday, Texas offered Austin Westlake High star Jackson Cook. The talented offensive lineman has seen his stock rise of late and now has caught the attention of Steve Sarkisian and his staff.
Although Cook would be a welcome addition, the Longhorns have their work cut out for them. During the recruiting process, Cook has received offers from Duke, SMU, Arkansas, Arizona, Baylor, Boston College, Houston, Texas Tech, and UCLA. While the Texas native has not set a commitment date, he has visits scheduled with Duke, SMU, and Arkansas, according to 247Sports.

Currently, the Longhorns’ recruiting target is ranked as the 64th-best offensive lineman in his class by 247Sports. They also rank him as the 127th best player from Texas. With plenty of room to grow, Cook has the potential to be a solid contributor in the right program.
If Cook were to commit to the Longhorns, he would join one of the best classes in the country. That group includes two four-star recruits in wide receiver Easton Royal and Edge Cameron Hall. They will be joined by three-star recruits JT Geraci, Cade Haug, Karnell James, and Ty Hutson. Over the next few months, that list should continue to grow, with many players still weighing their options.

While the Longhorns have already added a few weapons, building up the offensive line will be vital. Highly regarded quarterback Dia Bell is likely to be under center, and if the Longhorns can protect him, the offense will be very dangerous. That will be key as they chase a national title and compete in a tough conference.
For Sarkisian and his staff, the next step will be to get Cook to campus for a visit. Then they will be able to show him why his college career should start in Austin.
