The Oregon Ducks might be shifting gears on the quarterback front in the 2027 recruiting class. The Ducks offered quarterback Jake Nawrot on Monday night. Nawrot is the No. 2 quarterback and No. 32 overall player in the class.
The 6-foot-4 signal-caller from Hersey High School in Prospect Heights, Illinois, told Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong that he will be visiting the Oregon campus in Eugene on March 31. He received a call from new Oregon quarterbacks coach Koa Ka’ai, alerting him of the offer.
“We discussed the complexity of the Hersey playbook that Coach Nelson runs,” Nawrot told Rivals. “Oregon has a strong reputation for developing QBs.”
Nawrot is quickly gaining some traction on the recruiting trail. After recent visits to Northwestern and Kentucky, he will visit Florida State (March 26) before coming out west to see the Ducks. He also has visits lined up to Iowa (April 4), Washington (April 7) and Kansas State (April 9). He plans to make a commitment at the end of April or early May, depending on how his visits go.

Nawrot’s junior season was superb, as he threw for 3,071 yards and 41 touchdowns in just 34 quarters of play. He completed 71% of his passes, as well.
Oregon is pursuing the top of the class at quarterback in both Nawrot and fellow 5-star Will Mencl, the top-ranked passer in the 2027 cycle. Mencl has built a close relationship with the Ducks’ coaching staff since he was offered in the fall, and he plans to make a commitment soon.
The latest offer extended to Nawrot could suggest the Ducks are cooling on Mencl, or hoping to have a contingency plan in place if he commits elsewhere. Dan Lanning will likely need a new starting quarterback next season if Dante Moore enters the 2027 NFL Draft like he is expected to.
Nawrot has a big arm and an ability to make difficult throws downfield, both from the pocket and on the run. Doubling as a basketball player, the athleticism is off-the-charts, which has the Oregon coaching staff clearly excited.
Wiltfong believes the process with Nawrot could move quickly for the Ducks. He will be worth keeping an eye on when he arrives on campus at the end of the month.
