The Miami Marlins might not be a World Series contender in 2026, but they do have some interesting young players who could help turn the Marlins into a postseason contender in the near future.
One of those key young players is All-Star outfielder Kyle Stowers. After a breakout 2025 season where he posted 3.6 bWAR with a .912 OPS, the Marlins seemed to have found a superstar in the making.
However, as Christian De Nicola of MLB.com reports, the Marlins got some bad news on Stowers for the 2026 season. Stowers will begin the year on the injured list, missing some time at the start of the 2026 regular season with a hamstring injury.
Marlins get bad news on Kyle Stowers
“Kyle Stowers will begin the season on the IL #Marlins,” De Nicola reports. “Grade 1 hamstring strain. 3-4 weeks.”
This is some tough news for the Marlins, as Stowers is one of their best players, and yet, he’s going to be out for some time.
The 28-year-old lefty outfielder is going to miss potentially a month of the season with his hamstring issue.
After posting such a great 2025 season, with a .288 batting average, 25 home runs, an All-Star appearance, and 3.6 bWAR in the first breakout year of his career, there was plenty of optimism for Stowers in his fifth MLB season in 2026.

But now, he will begin the season on the injured list with his hamstring issue that will keep him out for three to four weeks, or potentially longer, depending on how his recovery goes.
This spring, Stowers played in six games, hitting .231 with a .719 OPS thanks to three hits, one double, no triples or homers in 13 at-bats with three walks and only two strikeouts.
He’s a great player, but will be limited in 2026 coming off this hamstring injury. It’s a tough blow for the Marlins, as one of their best players is going to miss some time to begin the season.
