The first week of the 2026 MLB season is in the books. The start of the season saw many players get off to hot starts. There will be a regression as production will not be sustainable. However, it is important for players to kick off the season on a positive note. Heading into Week 2, here are the top 10 second basemen power rankings.

1. Brandon Lowe, Pittsburgh Pirates
When healthy, Lowe is as good as any player at the second base position. Unfortunately, Lowe has played more than 130 games just twice in his career. The second baseman is off to a fast start in his first season with Pittsburgh, reaching three home runs and four RBI.
2. Oswald Peraza, Los Angeles Angels
Peraza was a platoon player early in his career. 2025 was his best season, reaching five home runs and 20 RBI. Through three games, Peraza has one home run and two RBI.
3. Ozzie Albies, Atlanta Braves
Fully healthy, Albies had a strong 2025 campaign. He’s off to a strong start with one home run and four hits. A second consecutive healthy season can see Albies reach 20 home runs, 70 RBI, and double-digit stolen bases.
4. Chase Meidroth, Chicago White Sox
Meidroth showed potential in his 2025 rookie season. He is looking like a bright spot on a young White Sox team. In week one, Meidroth had one home run and one RBI.
5. JJ Wetherholt, St. Louis Cardinals
The Cardinals’ top prospect broke camp with St. Louis following a strong Spring Training. Known for his bat-to-ball skills, Wetherhold is making his presence felt early. He finished week one with one home run, four RBI, and a .333 OBP.
6. Ketel Marte, Arizona Diamondbacks
The Arizona second baseman has been MLB’s best at the position for three consecutive seasons. In that span, Ketel Marte has averaged 29 home runs, 83 RBI, and .889 OPS. He finished last week with one home run and three hits.
7. Cole Young, Seattle Mariners
Young struggled in his rookie season but showed promise. This season, Young is penciled in as Seattle’s starting second baseman. Through 14 at-bats, the second-year player has one home run and three RBI.
8. Jose Altuve, Houston Astros
Altuve’s longevity is unmatched. He’s been one of MLB’s best second basemen since 2012. He doesn’t steal bases as he did in his early years, but he secured his first steal last week.
9. Ernie Clement, Toronto Blue Jays
Clement has been a platoon player throughout his career. He’s put together highly productive seasons in 2024 and 2025. This is the first year that Clement ended Spring Training with a starting job.
10. Luis Arraez, San Francisco Giants
His numbers aren’t eye-popping, but Arraez is one of the league’s best contact hitters. He puts the ball in play, gets on base, and doesn’t strike out. This is his first season with San Francisco, and he’s already reaching base for the Giants.
