Speaking in April, Ansu Fati’s (23) father, Bori, stated that his son’s wish was to remain at AS Monaco, where he thrived on loan last season. Nice-Matin now understands that an agreement between the Spaniard and the Principality club is close.
Fati’s loan from Barcelona to Monaco included a buy option worth €11m. Reports in France have suggested that the Principality club have been inclined to trigger that option, however, the stumbling block came in the form of Fati’s wages. This season, Monaco have been paying 50% of those wages, with his parent club paying the other half. His salary at the La Liga side was worth €500,000 per month. It is a figure that Monaco cannot match.
Les Monégasques have been in talks to find an agreement with the Spain international, with the club keen to trigger the buy option. And Nice-Matin now understands that an agreement on personal terms is close.
