Tottenham Hotspur are preparing another transfer swoop for West Ham United’s Crysencio Summerville, according to VI.NL.
Spurs failed with a winter transfer move to sign him and plan to revisit the deal this summer.
Now that the Hammers have been relegated, Tottenham might be able to get him for a lower price.
Summerville caught the eye of clubs like Spurs after a sensational campaign, bouncing back from the injuries that hampered his debut season in East London.
The Dutchman bagged seven goals and five assists in 34 appearances, earning himself a spot on the Netherlands national team World Cup squad.
However, Tottenham are not alone in the race to sign Summerville, with AS Roma also showing interest in securing his services at a good price.
The Italian club is in the market for a left-sided forward and has the phenomenal 24-year-old on their shortlist, interestingly, alongside Spurs man Mathys Tel.
However, per the report, the Premier League appeals to Summerville, and he would be an excellent fit for Tottenham under Roberto De Zerbi.
Spurs have lacked a natural one-versus-one threat on the left flank since Son Heung-min left for the United States, and Summerville brings exactly that explosiveness.
His direct running, close control and ability to isolate defenders would make him a nightmare in De Zerbi’s attacking system.
The move would also give Tottenham flexibility with Wilson Odobert.
The young Frenchman is immensely talented but still raw, and a loan spell with guaranteed minutes could accelerate his development.
Bringing in Summerville allows Spurs to make that decision without weakening the squad.
At the same time, healthy competition with Mathys Tel could push both players to another level.
Tel’s versatility means the pair could even rotate across the frontline, giving Spurs unpredictability in attack.
Under a coach like De Zerbi, who thrives when developing dynamic forwards, Summerville has every tool to grow into a top-class player in North London.
