Heading into the offseason, the quarterback situation for the Minnesota Vikings was going to be very fluid. Last season, the quarterback play was less than ideal, putting it mildly. The franchise made an effort to raise the level of play, signing free agent Kyler Murray to a one-year deal.
It is widely expected that Murray will be the week one starter, but regardless of how he plays this year, could Minnesota be looking to add another in the draft next year?
ESPN’s Jordan Reid laid it all out, writing, “If Murray and McCarthy don’t drastically improve from what they put on tape last season, Minnesota could be looking for its next franchise signal-caller as soon as the 2027 draft.”
There is a real chance that Murray elevates this offense in 2026. However, should we not see a major improvement this season, it sounds like Minnesota could address the situation in the 2027 NFL Draft. You could argue that there might be six quarterbacks taken in round one next year, should everyone declare, and one might be a Viking next season.
