Middle Tennessee could see rain and thunderstorms throughout the weekend that brings NASCAR to the Nashville Superspeedway with events starting Friday, May 29 leading up to the Cracker Barrel 400 at 6 p.m., Sunday, May 31.
The weekend roster also includes the season’s first Full Moon Pickin’ Party at Percy Warner Park in Nashville. The bluegrass music series starts at 6 p.m. May 29.
“Scattered to numerous thunderstorms are forecasted for this evening and Saturday,” the National Weather Service’s Alexandra Holley said. “Sunday precipitation and thunder chances look to peak before the green flag flies (for the Cracker Barrel 400), but lightning is still a concern for the pre-race festivities.”
Severe weather is not in the forecast, but an isolated strong storm with hazardous gusty winds can’t be ruled out, Holley said.
The Allegiance 200 NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series race at 7 p.m., Friday, May 29, and the Sports Illustrated Resorts 250 NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race at 6:30 p.m., Saturday are also part of the racing weekend.
The National Weather Service weekend forecast for Middle Tennessee is:
