Juventus defender Emil Holm will be forced to watch the 2026 World Cup from home, as an injury has forced him to withdraw from the Sweden national team squad ahead of the tournament in North America.
Holm misses 2026 World Cup through injury and returns to Juventus
Holm, who joined Juventus on loan with an option to buy from Bologna in January, was initially selected in Graham Potter’s 26-man squad, but has since withdrawn with a muscular injury, which will keep him sidelined for several weeks.
Sweden have confirmed that Herman Johansson has been called into the squad to replace Holm, and that Sebastian Nanasi has been promoted to the standby list for the 2026 World Cup.

“Juventus defender Emil Holm has suffered a muscle injury that is expected to keep him out of opportunities to play for several weeks,” the Swedish FA confirmed in a statement.
“Given the assessment, Emil Holm will leave the World Cup squad for continued rehabilitation and thus miss this summer’s championship.”
