BATTLE CREEK — Meet the most recent nominees for Battle Creek Enquirer Athletes of the Week, presented by Bronson Battle Creek Hospital.
Each week during the high school sports season, we will ask our readers to vote for the top performance of the week in all high school sports, taking a look at events from Monday-Saturday. In 2026, the Enquirer will have an Athlete of the Week for boys sports and an Athlete of the Week for girls sports.
Make sure to vote early and often for your pick, as the winner will be featured in an Athlete of the Week spotlight story in the Sunday edition of the Enquirer. Fans can vote for their favorite athlete until Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Nominees for Bronson Battle Creek Athlete of the Week for boys sports
Christian Ayres
Harper Creek Cross Country
Harper Creek senior Christian Ayres had the best time for the Beavers at their own invite last week. Ayres finished first at the Harper Creek Optimist Invitational in a time of 17:30.8. Harper Creek won the team title by taking three of the top five places at the event.
Lee Campbell Jr.
Battle Creek Central Football
Junior quarterback Lee Campbell Jr. was part of a history-making game as Battle Creek Central and Mattawan played in the highest scoring game in the history of the state. Mattawan won 77-76. Campbell Jr. had eight total touchdowns in the game, including seven rushing. He finished with 138 yards rushing on 26 carries.
Karson Lewis
Lakeview Cross Country
Lakeview junior Karson Lewis had the best time for the Spartans at their own invite over the weekend. Lewis finished second in the Lakeview Invitational with a season best time of 16:11.15 as Lakeview finished second as a team.
Adrian Mejia
Lakeview Soccer
Adrian Mejia helped Lakeview earn a win over its rival Battle Creek Central in boys soccer. Mejia scored the lone goal for the Spartans in a 1-0 win over BCC. Mejia found the back of the net 15 seconds into the game as the Spartans earned a win that put them at six victories, which already matches their win total from last year.
