The Minnesota Vikings have placed running back Jordan Mason on injured reserve with a fractured right thumb.
Head coach Kevin O’Connell announced the news to reporters on Wednesday. Mason is listed as a co-starter on Minnesota’s depth chart and splits backfield duties Aaron Jones. He led the Vikings with 15 carries for 59 yards in Sunday’s win over the Green Bay Packers.
He was known to be dealing with a thumb injury prior to Wednesday, but news of his fracture and injured reserve stint were not expected.
