Raines is indeed still here, and still Ichiban — number one — in Jacksonville high school football after slamming the door on Mandarin 31-13 on Sept. 18 at the Graveyard.
It took two TD runs from sophomore quarterback Sa’Mon Ellison-Morgan, a circus catch from Marquez Hicks, breakaway punt returns from Tacori Allen and 48 minutes of punishment from a Viking defense that refused to let go of its title as Duval County’s best.
Victory at the Graveyard made it 19 wins in a row for Raines, reigning Florida High School Athletic Association champions in Class 3A, and handed the Mustangs (3-1) their first loss against a Duval County public school in nearly five years.
