If it wasn’t already abundantly clear, the Detroit Lions‘ start to the season make it crystal clear that they need help in the secondary.
New Orleans quarterback Tyler Shough passed for 410 yards and three scores in the Lions‘ season-opening win over the Saints. Then, Bills quarterback Josh Allen threw for 248 yards and three touchdowns in Buffalo’s 41-31 win over Detroit on “Thursday Night Football.”
With safeties Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph beginning the season on the physically unable to perform list, the Lions’ secondary was already starting down two stars. Of course, Detroit released former first-round corner Terrion Arnold this past offseason following his arrest in connection to an armed robbery and kidnapping case in Florida.
But, after the way the season has started, the Lions can’t ignore the deficiencies in its secondary any longer.
On Sunday morning, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported that the Lions are among the teams that have checked in on former Pro Bowler and former Indianapolis Colts cornerback Kenny Moore II.

“Sounds like he has got a lot of interest from multiple teams in need of a cornerback because of depth reasons and injury reasons,” Garofolo said before the 1 p.m. ET games on Sunday. “The Lions amongst the teams that have checked in on Kenny Moore. I’m expecting the veteran former Pro Bowler to sign with a team in the very near future.”
The Colts released Moore last spring after they couldn’t find a trade partner.
Originally an undrafted free agent out of Valdosta State, Moore played nine season for the Colts. The 5-foot-9 corner was a Pro Bowler in 2021. In his career, he has played in 132 games, started 111, and recorded 649 tackles, 68 passes defended, 39 tackles for loss, 21 interceptions, 20 quarterback hits, and six forced fumbles.
Moore has returned four interceptions for touchdowns.
