Jayden Montgomery was named a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy.
The Campbell Trophy is given annually to the nation’s top scholar-athlete. On the field, Montgomery has eight tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss for an elite Iowa defense. Off the field, Montgomery has spent time volunteering at the Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital, Safe Haven Animal Shelter, Make-A-Wish, Day of Caring, and CommUnity Crisis Services & Food Bank.
Montgomery has also been named to the Dean’s List six times and is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten member.

The criteria for the Campbell Trophy are as follows:
“Must be a senior or graduate student in their final year of eligibility, have a GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale, have outstanding football ability as a first team player or significant contributor and have demonstrated strong leadership and citizenship.”
The Hawkeyes‘ most recent Campbell Trophy winner was Jack Campbell, who took home the award in 2022. Montgomery is hoping to join his fellow linebacker in taking home the award this season.
The Campbell Trophy will name 12-16 finalists on October 21. The winner of the award will be announced on December 8.
