The New York Jets lost their star running back in Breece Hall against the Detroit Lions in Week 3, adding salt to the wound of a 31-24 loss.
The Jets (1-2) made it a game late and trailed by a touchdown while holding the ball… but quarterback Geno Smith fumbled the ball away and the Lions (2-1) won.
Making things harder in the moment for Smith and the Jets was the departure of Breece Hall. The running back left the game because of a thigh injury and we have an update on Hall’s status.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Hall is considered to have a “week-to-week” injury:
#Jets star RB Breece Hall, who suffered a quad injury in Sunday’s game, is considered week-to-week, per me and @AdamSchefter.

After a 152-yard rushing game in the season opener, the Jets managed only 67 and 58 yards in Weeks 2 and 3.
Without Hall, the team will turn things over Braelon Allen as the No. 1 rusher. In addition to Hall, other players currently injured from the Jets offense include wide receiver Adonai Mitchell (finger) and tight end Mason Taylor (thumb).
It remains to be seen exactly how long Hall will be sidelined.
Jets Wire will continue to provide updates throughout the 2026 NFL season.
