The Green Bay Packers’ big injury news on Wednesday was that the team placed receiver Jayden Reed on the injured reserve list to make room for the addition of guard Kevin Zeitler, bringing the Packers’ offensive line total in practice to a league-leading 15 players. According to head coach Matt LaFleur, Reed notified him yesterday that he will be having surgery on his neck. Per LaFleur, this is expected to end Reed’s 2026 campaign, but is not considered to be a career-ending injury. Either way, prayers up for Reed and his family as he recovers from a spooky injury — neck issues are always dicey.
Beyond the Reed news, four players in practice on Wednesday were non-participants: left guard Aaron Banks (knee/toe), right guard Jacob Monk (quadricep), defensive lineman Karl Brooks (illness) and defensive lineman Anthony Campbell (ankle). Banks and Campbell did not play last week, so those are not surprises. Monk dropped out of action late against the Atlanta Falcons, but he was never given a status by the team — clearly, he’s banged up as we’re nearly a week removed from game action. Brooks’ illness was not reported on before practice.
Limited participants for the Packers today were defensive lineman Warren Brinson (calf/groin), linebacker Edgerrin Cooper (shoulder/concussion) and edge defender Lukas Van Ness (shoulder). This was Brinson’s first practice since he was injured in pre-game warmups leading up to Week 2 of the preseason, but reporters on the scene for individual drills and warmups today (the portions of practice open to the media) stated that Brinson “appeared to go down and was receiving medical attention.” Worth noting: Brinson has never had a groin status on his injury report before today, so it’s possible that he could have suffered a second injury on Wednesday.
The good news is that Cooper, who dropped out against the Falcons, is already a limited participant in practice. Generally, a player who suffers a concussion on a Thursday Night Football game is cleared for the next Sunday’s action, but concussions can be tricky. If Cooper can’t go, it will be Isaiah McDuffie — both the backup Mike linebacker (behind Zaire Franklin) and backup Will linebacker (behind Cooper) — who starts in his place.
For what it’s worth, the “starting” offensive line with both Banks and Monk out, plus Zeitler still learning the ropes, was Jordan Morgan, Laken Tomlinson, Sean Rhyan, Donovan Jennings and Anthony Belton (left to right).
Below is the full injury report, which includes seven non-participants for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Packers’ Week 4 opponent, and four more limited participants. To say the least, the Buccaneers are banged up.
