Who is the biggest trash talker on the San Antonio Spurs?
Ask Dylan Harper, and the answer is easy.
“Steph Castle,” the rookie said without hesitation during Spurs Media Day.
Ask Stephon Castle the same question, however, and he’ll tell you Harper has it all wrong.
“I think Dyl is just deflecting,” Castle told reporters. “I feel like he definitely holds that title. I’m kind of more on the chill side. I don’t really start stuff. People kind of start stuff with me. I’ll talk back, but Dyl, he’s full throttle.”
Castle summed it up with a smile.
“I don’t start the beef,” he said. “I’ll finish it, but Dyl starts it.”
The playful back-and-forth was one of several lighthearted moments during Media Day, as teammates took turns poking fun at one another.
Castle even found himself on the receiving end when Devin Vassell asked who had more bounce – Castle or rookie Carter Bryant – before quickly stepping behind Bryant as if to shield himself from whatever response might be coming.

“You know the answer to that, bro,” Castle said with a smirk. “You know Carter doesn’t have more bounce than me.”
The rookie banter didn’t stop there.
During a Media Day photo shoot, Harper and Castle jokingly dubbed De’Aaron Fox “unc.” Fox, who won’t turn 30 until December 2027, quickly fired back.
“If I’m unc at 30, y’all are teenagers.”
Harrison Barnes also found himself in the middle of the fun. Julian Champagnie tried to poke fun at Barnes’ “Drizz” nickname, but the veteran quickly turned the joke back on his teammate.
“Ask Julian where that nickname came from, and what his nickname is,” Barnes said. “Now trying to walk away. Why you walking away, Jule?
What’s wrong?”
So, who really is the Spurs’ biggest trash talker?
It depends on who you ask.
Harper says it’s Castle. Castle insists it’s Harper. Barnes showed he can hold his own, while Fox proved he isn’t about to let the team’s younger players get the last word.
If Media Day was any indication, the Spurs won’t be lacking confidence-or playful banter-when the regular season tips off Oct. 20 against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
