As Hurricane Isaias hits the Alabama and Florida coasts on Friday night, Duke and Georgia Tech are set to kick off their ACC battle in Atlanta at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
The hurricane is expected to bring severe weather to the Georgia capital, with rain and high winds forecast all day Saturday, including possible afternoon thunderstorms during the Blue Devils and Jackets’ game. There’s a 78 percent chance of a thunderstorm at 3:30 p.m., when kickoff is scheduled.
As of now, no delays or postponements have been announced for the ACC showdown, but there’s a good chance that there will be delays due to lightning during the course of Saturday afternoon.
The Blue Devils are coming off a bye week after starting the season 4-0. Running back Nate Sheppard leads the nation with 161 rushing yards per game, while Duke’s defense is sixth in scoring defense, allowing just 11 points per game.
Lightning delayed Duke’s season opener against Tulane by 90 minutes in the Durham area.
