Former quarterback Eli Manning has been breaking down Josh Allen’s game on the back of the Buffalo Bills’ meeting with the Los Angeles Rams.
The Bills secured a late victory on Monday, with Allen managing to pick up his first-ever overtime win in the NFL.
The quarterback shone on the night, but Manning is of the opinion that the 30-year-old should start taking the easier option during plays.
Eli Manning says Josh Allen ‘won’t always take the open guy’
Speaking about the NFL on ESPN, he explained: “Sometimes Josh he has guys open but he doesn’t always throw it.
“You know he kind of has the quick out right here to the right to Coleman. You can throw that and he can turn up and hit the first down.
“Sometimes because he has such, the ability to scramble and make plays, he kind of won’t always take the open guy.”
He added: “Just because you have the ability to scramble, we can still get the ball out on time a little bit more.”
While Allen’s game may not be completely perfect in the eyes of Manning, he is having a terrific 2026/27 so far.
He has managed 1,249 passing yards with a 65.9 percent completion rate and an average of 9.1 per attempt, which is the third-best average in the league behind Michael Penix Jr. (9.3) and Lamar Jackson (10.1).
