During his first year with the Washington Huskies, junior Noah Kenney has developed into a rock-solid option at the top of coach Eddie Smith’s rotation.
On Tuesday, the 6-foot-2, 210-pound junior who transferred to the shores of Montlake from Folsom Lake Community College was one of four pitchers named to Baseball America’s Team of the Week after a dominant victory against Valparaiso over the weekend.
He improved to 3-3 on the season after working 7 shutout innings, letting up just 4 hits and 2 walks while recording a career-high 14 strikeouts, resetting the mark he had made just over a week after he tallied 9 punchouts in a 7-2 win over the Northwestern Wildcats.

Across eight appearances this season, Kenney leads the Huskies in several major categories, including wins, ERA (3.65), strikeouts (56), and innings pitched (44 1/3), while his .232 batting average against and 18 earned runs are both the second-best marks on the team.
As the Huskies head to Minnesota on Friday and look to climb back towards .500 after dropping three straight games, having Kenney as a stopper in the rotation has been vital for Smith’s team this season .
