Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark keeps finding her way into the record books. On Thursday, Clark hit her 500th career assist during the Fever’s game against the Golden State Valkyries, tallying another landmark after hitting 1,000 career points earlier this season.
Clark becomes the fastest player in WNBA history to reach that milestone, achieving it in just 59 games. The next closest was Sue Bird, who hit that mark in 82 games.
That 500th assist came about halfway through the second quarter, off a long dime to Sophie Cunningham. Clark had hit 1,000 points during the Fever’s season opener, a narrow loss to the Dallas Wings.
The Valkyries held off the Fever for most of the first half, going up by double digits. But a late run in the second quarter brought Indiana back from the deficit to tie things up at 44-44 heading into halftime.
