After losing several key contributors from the 2025-2026 team that made a second consecutive tournament run, Mike White isn’t backing off on scheduling for next season. Reports indicate that the Bulldogs have been tabbed to take on the Duke Blue Devils in the upcoming Jimmy V Classic in Madison Square Garden.
The Jimmy V Classic is of course named for former college coaching legend Jim Valvano, and has been played annually since 1995. The event raises money and awareness for the V Foundation, which supports cancer research and awareness.
It will be the Bulldogs’ first trip to the event, but Duke is no stranger to the Garden. The Blue Devils have won in the Jimmy V Classic four times, more than any other program in the nation.
The Jimmy V Classic takes place just before Christmas during the traditional “holiday tournament” season. By the time the Red and Black arrive in the Big Apple we should have a decent read on what kind of team Coach White has, and the matchup should provide a good gage of exactly how ready (or not) the Dawgs are for conference play. Until later…
Go ‘‘Dawgs!!!
