Initial contacts between the Leeds hierarchy and the player’s representatives have taken place to gauge Paixao’s interest in a move to Elland Road.
The ‘dangerous’ winger, comfortable on either flank, is viewed as an ideal profile to boost Leeds’ final-third potency. However, negotiating an agreement with Marseille presents a significant financial hurdle for the Premier League club.
Marseille are demanding a premium fee of €50 million before considering any departure for the former Feyenoord star, who remains under a long-term contract in France. Having brought Paixao to Ligue 1 last year, the French giants are under no pressure to sell unless their financial demands are met in full.
Leeds, meanwhile, currently value the Brazilian forward between €30 million and €35 million, creating a significant gap between the two clubs. While Leeds admire Paixao’s explosive dribbling and directness, they remain cautious about overextending their recruitment budget and are keen to structure a deal that fits within their financial parameters.
Should a compromise be reached on the transfer fee, personal terms are not expected to pose a major obstacle, given the positive initial talks with the player’s camp. For now, discussions remain at an early stage as Leeds continue to assess their options in the summer market.
