Road to the state final
Wareham stacked its regular season schedule with Division I teams like Bishop Feehan, New Bedford, Brockton and Taunton and Div. 2 power St. Mary’s.
After finishing the regular season with a record of 16-5, the No. 1 Vikings won their four playoff games against No. 32 Tech Boston Academy, No. 17 South Hadley, No. 8 Wahconah Regional and No. 4 West Bridgewater by an average of 18.5 points per game.
After opening the regular season with a record of 4-4, Georgetown won 11 out of its next 12 games to take a 15-5 mark into the playoffs and earn the No. 3 seed.
The defending Div. 4 state champion Royals defeated their first two playoff opponents — No. 30 Carver and No. 14 Sutton — by an average of 30 points per game. They pulled out a 66-63 win over sixth-seeded Blue Hills in the Elite 8 and won a 53-51 thriller over No. 2 Millbury in the state semifinals.
