With the Carabao Cup title secured and the international break behind them, a mostly fit Manchester City can focus solely on domestic play the rest of the way as they begin the stretch run with an FA Cup quarterfinal against Liverpool on Saturday.
Out of the Champions League after a Round of 16 defeat to Real Madrid, Pep Guardiola need only worry about two more competitions, as they are in the FA Cup quarterfinals and also chasing Arsenal for the Premier League title.
City have fallen nine points behind Arsenal in the Premier League title race, but with the Gunners still fighting on the European front as well as the pair of domestic competitions, there remains faint hope they can make up the gap, still holding a game in hand.
Having already secured one domestic title by beating Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final, there is still the chance for more silverware by the end of the campaign.

Ruben Dias
- Injury: Hamstring
- Expected return date: April 12 (vs. Chelsea)
After picking up a hamsting injury in the second Champions League match against Real Madrid, centre-back Ruben Dias missed the Carabao Cup final and withdrew from international duty. It’s unlikely that he will be ready for the FA Cup quarterfinal against Liverpool, and instead will likely return some time shortly after that, possibly against Chelsea in the Premier League on April 12.
Josko Gvardiol
- Injury: Tibia fracture
- Expected return date: May/June
Man City suffered a brutal blow in the 1-1 draw with Chelsea, as the opening match of 2026 brought with it terrible news. Defender Gvardiol, who has been a pillar of consistency for City in recent seasons, went down in the second half with a tibia fracture, confirmed by the club the following day.
City confirmed that Gvardiol underwent surgery for the broken leg. While there is very little known at this point about a potential timeline for Gvardiol’s return, it is believed to require a long-term recovery, and it’s possible he will miss the remainder of the 2025/26 season.
