For the first time in a while, LSU baseball is building some momentum. The Tigers won their first SEC series at home last weekend over Kentucky, taking the last two games of the set.
LSU followed that up with a 16-6 win over Southern on Tuesday night. Now the trick is for head coach Jay Johnson and his team to hold on to that momentum as they hit the road to open a three-game series against Tennessee (19-10, 3-6) on Friday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium (4:30 p.m. CT, SEC Network).
The Tigers (20-10, 4-5) have scored 33 runs across their past two games but where Johnson knows he needs to see improvement is with LSU’s pitching staff and the walk problem it’s had for much of the season.
Tennessee was swept at Vanderbilt in its last SEC series and returning to home, it’ll be fired up to host the reigning national champions.
Sophomore Casan Evans will get the nod for LSU on the mound while the Volunteers will turn to Landon Mack for the series opener.
