A couple of weeks ago, Lane Kiffin did an interview with Vanity Fair and made comments regarding the challenges he faced recruiting players while at Ole Miss. However, those ccomments did not go over well and sparked significant backlash online.
Since then, the SEC and Ole Miss have reportedly been in contact regarding a potential reprimand for Coach Kiffin over those comments.
Kiffin has since apologized and attempted to clarify his remarks, explaining that he was not expressing those views himself, but rather repeating statements that had been relayed to him by parents of potential recruits.
The SEC could reprimand him, fine him, or potentially do both. A reprimand is a formal statement of censure issued against a coach by the conference.
This would not be the first time Kiffin has faced disciplinary action from the SEC. During his lone season at Tennessee, Kiffin was reprimanded by the conference for comments he made regarding officiating. At the time, Mike Slive was serving as SEC commissioner.
So, if any action is actually taken against Coach Kiffin, it would not be the first time he’s from heard conference officials.
