Michigan State football has reportedly added a big-time visitor for this weekend’s recruiting festivities.
The Spartans are set to reportedly host four-star athlete Deontay Malone of Massillon, Ohio for an official visit this upcoming weekend. Michigan State insider Justin Thind of 247Sports broke the notable recruiting news on Thursday afternoon.
Malone is listed as a four-star prospect, with a recruiting rating of 90.65 in 247Sports’ composite system. He ranks as the No. 18 athlete and No. 12 player from Ohio in the 2027 class. He is also listed as the No. 303 overall prospect in the class.
Michigan State is one of more than 10 schools to extend an offer to Malone and actively recruiting him. Other notable schools to offer Malone includes Ohio State, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, Purdue and a host of group of six teams.
Malone is teammates with Spartans’ commit Savior Owens, who was one of the first to commit to new head coach Pat Fitzgerald in the 2027 class. That could help swing Malone in favor of the Spartans and is something to monitor this upcoming weekend.
