The Mets received some good news on Juan Soto after he was forced to leave Saturday’s game following a HBP.
Andy Green said Soto got dinged up good, but X-rays came back negative.
The All-Star outfielder is dealing with a right hand contusion, and Green doesn’t know yet if he’ll be back in the lineup for Sunday afternoon’s season finale.
Soto, of course, was struck by former Mets lefty Richard Lovelady in the top of the ninth.
He appeared to be in immediate discomfort, shaking his hand out for several moments before making his way back to the dugout alongside Green and Mets trainers.
Nick Morabito replaced Soto on-base and then in the field.
Soto enjoyed himself a strong day at the plate before leaving with the injury, reaching base three times with a pair of well-struck singles and then the HBP.
If he isn’t able to work his way back into the lineup for Sunday’s finale, he’ll end the season hitting .278 with 27 homers, 68 RBI, and a .919 OPS across 110 games.
